| For those of you who don't know, the original skatepark located in Kahului, Maui was made out of wood. In its prime (late 80's to mid 90's) the park hosted many contests and demos with the likes of Christian Hosoi, Butch Sterbins, Mark Partain, Jef Hartsel, and in it's later years Poncho Moler.
The park was run and maintained by the MSA (Maui Skateboard Association) - anyone remember Martha and little son Max?
Initially many of the ramps were built and designed by the late Rob-O's Ramps.

It is funny when the Maui park locals think their park is second to Hickam. Just another case of 'I skate this park everyday, and the other park in the magazines looks better than this boring place' syndrome. If you live in Hawaii and haven't skated the Maui park, you have my sympathy, Maui has the best park in Hawaii. Although the park is not covered, the locals do an excellent job of maintaining the park (but uh, I like to call ahead to check the ramps condition before I spend the $80 in plane fare).
