Sightings
Pat Shea 1985 September 24, 1999
This sightings page is a new feature, one we hope to update quite frequently. The concept is rather simple. We find old pictures of famous professional skateboarders we drum up out of various skate magazines, and then identify a person in the background of the photo. A good example sighting would be if you were the only person standing on the deck of a vert ramp, while a picture was being taken of someone skating from below or from the opposite deck. The more desolate the place, or the more popular the skater, the better. In the future, we may actually have a short interview with the person in the background on what they were doing or thinking at the time the picture was taken.

This month's unlucky bastard is Pat Shea, a skater originally from Hawaii, who now lives in the Bay Area, where he's presently working as a lawyer. You may recognize this picture of Mark Gonzales from our skatemap coverage of Niu Valley Intermediate. This picture was taken in the Winter of 1985. We're not quite sure why, but he would always brag about the picture while in high school. As you can see, he still skates and we have this picture of Pat riding the vert ramp at Hickam last time he was in the islands in 1998.
